Professional counselling and advice as well as evaluation and intervention by our Social Worker towards adults and teenagers. Services include:
• Trauma (crime related as well as personal trauma).• Bereavement counselling.
• Emotional problems.
• Marital counselling.
• Family problems and
• Substance Abuse.
Food for street beggars
Due to the alarming increase in poverty and the desperate need for food in our community more people resort to begging as a means for survival. To ensure that these people will receive enough food, we started an Outreach project under the leadership of Stephanie Engelbrecht.
Food project
Large quantities of food are distributed to different families who have been carefully screened by the Social Worker and identified as people in need of assistance.
Homeless and Jobless
Homeless/Jobless people are ministered to on Thursdays at 08h00 at Pharos. They are equipped with Life Skills and supplied with some food and clothing. Where necessary they receive counselling by the Social Worker. After successful completion of the programme each candidate receives a certificate. This enables them to access better job opportunities.
Clothing project
The Clothing and blankets that are received are distributed amongst needy individuals, families and charitable organisations. Beneficiaries are carefully evaluated by the Social Worker.
Trudreams
We support Matriculants in a generous way to enable them to enjoy this very special evening. The aim of this project is to create a glamorous event for a matriculant from a disadvantaged background. This is established by a wide variety of donations in evening wear (in different styles) and matching accessories like handbags, jewellery etc. We even make provision for the boys with a few formal suits and pairs of shoes.
Christmas day hampers
Many Homeless People do not have the resources to visit their families during the festive season. This project provides in their basic needs for food and toiletries. A New Testament with an applicable Christmas message is also included.
